Dear Amani Family,

I am thrilled to welcome you to the Amani Public Charter School and to share with you all that we have to offer to the community. Amani Public Charter School has been a part of the Mount Vernon Community for the last 10 years, our student population is primarily from the Mount Vernon community, but also includes families from the surrounding areas as well.  Our school is an educational community that provides a rigorous academic program which extends beyond the basics, and includes arts, athletics, science and technology, and a variety of clubs and activities.

Since we launched in 2011, we have maintained a program that adheres to our mission, to provide scholars who attend the school from the 5th through 8th grade with the academic and critical thinking skills necessary to succeed in competitive high school programs, college, and the career of their choice. Our goal is to develop lifelong learners and curious, critical thinking, human beings.

As the Executive Director and Founder of Amani Public Charter School, I am honored to lead an organization that is so committed to raising the bar in public education. We believe that schools can and should provide social and emotional support to students and provide diverse opportunities while also providing them with a top-notch academic program.

We are particularly proud of our diverse faculty, staff, and administration who bring  love and passion to their work. Our school reflects the energy and excitement that comes from a  principal who is relentlessly committed to each student, faculty that love their jobs and can bring creativity, voice, and leadership to their daily work, and families that feel welcomed and valued in the community.
