Estudiantes del Idioma Inglés
En la escuela de Amani Public Charter damos la bienvenida a los estudiantes y sus familias que son estudiantes de inglés (ELLs) a nuestra comunidad escolar. Cuando enseñamos a nuestros estudiantes el idioma Inglés, los apoyamos en el desarrollo de una comprensión más profunda de sus culturas, así como las diversas culturas en los Estados Unidos y en el mundo. Estudiantes en Amani son capaces de alcanzar los estándares más altos, pero necesitan tiempo y apoyo para adquirir el idioma Inglés.
Los maestros de Amani Public Charter school entienden que la obtención del dominio del inglés es sólo un indicador del logro académico. Además conocen la importancia de seguir de cerca el crecimiento continuo de los ex ELLs. En Amani, lo logramos mediante con co-enseñanza, la instrucción directa y la consulta con los maestros tradicionales. No estamos formando a estudiantes para ser “nativos” de habla inglesa. Por otro lado, queremos que sean auto-motivados y aprendan bien el lenguaje, y por lo tanto la enseñanza se extiende tanto en la clase como en la casa.
English Language Learners
Amani welcomes scholars, and their families, who are English Language Learners (ELLs) to our school community. As we engage our scholars in the English language, we support them in developing a more profound understanding of their cultures, as well as the varied cultures in the United States and in the world. ELLs at Amani are capable of reaching the highest standards, but they need time and support to acquire the English language. Our faculty understands that obtaining English proficiency is only one indicator of academic achievement.
The faculty knows the importance of closely tracking the continuous growth of former ELLs. At Amani, we accomplish this by co-teaching, direct instruction and consultation with mainstream teachers. We are not training students to be “native” English speakers. On the other hand, we want them to be self-motivated, well trained language learners and therefore teaching extends out of the class as well as in the class.
